Getting There

Barbican Gate

How to get here

From the South, stay on the M2 until reaching the junction for Antrim/Ballymena/Coleraine [A26]. At the top of the slip road turn left, towards Antrim town.

From the North, stay on the M22 until reaching the junction for Antrim/Ballymena/Coleraine [A26]. At the top of the slip road follow the roundabout right and follow the signs for Antrim.

Proceed onwards into Antrim, following signage for the Town Centre and public parking.

By foot, access to the Enchanted Garden is only via the Barbican Gate at Market Square.

If arriving by bus of train, the Barbican Gate entrance is a ten minute walk following signs into the Town Centre.

Car Parking

We would advise using public transport where possible, with a bus stop in Market Square dropping off right beside the event entrance at Barbican Gate.

There will be no parking available in Antrim Castle Gardens but free car parking, including plenty of accessible provision, in all town centre car parks.

Parking restrictions will be in place in residential areas adjacent to the Gardens and we would urge drivers to park responsibly and use the town car parks located on the map.

Access

There are some minor restrictions in relation to prams and wheelchairs, given that some of the paths in the Gardens are hundreds of years old.

We recommend that you visit the Antrim Castle Gardens to assess whether it is suited to your specific access needs prior to booking.

All visitors should be aware that ground conditions vary across a variety of surfaces so care should be taken by all.

For more information contact our Arts and Culture Customer Hub via direct telephone number T. 0300 123 7788 (calls charged at local rate) or dedicated email address E. culture@antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk.

Clothing & Footwear

This is a predominantly outdoor event and the Winter Garden will invite visitors in whether it rains or not.

Please keep this in mind when planning your visit; wrap up and wear suitable footwear.

The event will only be cancelled due to poor weather if exceptional extreme weather conditions compromise safety of visitors.

You are welcome to bring torches, lanterns and fairy lights for your visit to guide you through the glittering gardens.

Duration of Visit

There is lots to see and do in the Enchanted Winter Garden and visitors should allow a minimum one hour for their visit but realistically it should take at least 90 minutes to take in the sights on offer.

FREE Park N Ride From The Junction

Why not make a day out of your visit to the Enchanted Winter Garden with some Christmas Shopping or a meal at Antrim’s popular outlet retail centre The Junction www.thejunctionshopping.com

As an alternative to town centre car parks you can use the frequent and free Park n Ride service which will run throughout the opening hours of the event and take you in comfort completely free.
